The GT1 era in the Le Mans Series - Europe ended with another Corvette championship at the drop of the final 2009 race checkers at Silverstone. It was not a win for the LAA C6R [a 3rd - the Gigawave AM took P1].
But, the 'big picture' season accomplishments went to Corvette -
Plus, Luc Alphand made his first track appearance since his accident to accept well-deserved accolades for his Corvette organziation. And Jake was there on the b-pillar, too.

I wonder what will happen to the now 7 ex-PM cars ?? They would make great vintage race cars I suppose. Or they could make a comeback if the FIA or ACO changes the GT rules again. Great job by all Euro Vette teams.

I was there supporting the vette, it seemed to have a problem at the start and was dropping back, after an early pit stop, Jake was a lap down but quickly caught up. Well done anyway LAA, good to see and hear the beautiful C6.R again.

I spoke to Luc on the grid and he seemed in good spirits. The right front wing was damaged at Alib last weekend and because of the loss of 003 and all their spare parts the wing was fibreglass and the inner a piece of aluminium! Both Luc's car are already sold to a private French collection so they probably won't be racing next season......but you never know. The 003 may be rebuilt depending on how badly it was damaged in the fire and also how much the insurance pays out.

Well that explains there lack of pace, cheers for that buddy. I hope the GT1 Vettes will race again or are well looked after. It'll be a shame never to see the greatest, most successful GT1 car kick butt again.

Just to expand on VH comments, as all of the spare bodywork and tools were either destroyed in the transporter fire or are still impounded waiting for the insurance, there was virtually no equipment in the garage and the drivers were under strict instructions not to damage the car, especially as it's got the FIA GT races in Portugal, Paul Ricard and Zolder on the schedule, as well as the FFSA. It was good to see Luc walking around - see the interview over at Corvette Motorsport!
